Do I need RP experience? 
Not at all! You can learn on the go, and there will definitely be players amongst us that want to help you do so!

What is the best species to start with? 

This depends on what you’re looking for. Check the ‘Choose a Starting Species’ part of the Guide, but also keep in mind that if you’re looking for immediate activity, the Draconians are a great choice right now!

What are the rules on character creation? 

Due the specificity of traits and consistency of design / sheet we use for each species,

our species are unfortunately NOT open / free creation.

 

You'll need a design either premade or custom designed by an authorized artist for that species. 
(At this time, that will be Naikios, LyssArts, or Bad Ritual for most species).

There are a few ways to go about this:
 

• Purchasing from the Available Designs: These make it a simple grab and go situation.

​

• Purchasing a design through the Mystery Design Wheel in the Phoenix Spire Discord Server: This is a fantastic option, allowing discounted design prices in exchange for artist's having artistic freedom. When you do this, you'll be able to tell your artist what you absolutely loathe to make sure they don't make something you'll hate, then sit back and get ready for surprise.

• Phoenix Spire Design Auctions: From time to time, especially with species releases, our artists flow premades through auction style in the Phoenix Spire server. These eventually end up in Available Designs, but if you want first grab, this is another good way to do it!

​

• Custom Design: If you have something specific in mind or want to have heavy influence / direction in the design, this is the best option. You'll hook up with one of the authorized artists, who will help you get what you want while making sure it fits the species you're trying to join.

a few examples:

• specific patterns/colors belong to certain clans within the pra'vos

• primordials have limits to quantities of stone usage/availability in different types / regions

• nefali eyes won't be black/white as they are always bright jewel tones

Even if you're not able to purchase a design, you should still join discord. For brand new players, there are potential discounts, payment plans, sponsors among other players from time to time, and even the possibility of a free starter design for those that show their interest/activity.

Can I play multiple characters? 

Absolutely, and lots of players do! It’s by no means a necessity, but if you’re drawn to multiple species, the more the merrier! In a lot of cases, you can even have them interconnected amongst species, or within families and clans!

How Powerful can characters be?
The power scaling varies amongst all the species, but is consistent where they interconnect. For instance, the Telhi and the Pravda are very similar at the base level, both serving as the Solas for their individual universe. On paper, the Telhi appear to have more skills and magic, but at their core, they were formed from ONE Pravda’s magic, meaning that as a collective, they have the same magic stash as a single Pravda.
 

Pravda are at the top of our ultimate universe and are played just as big as they seem to reflect this. Meanwhile, species like the Draconians are fixed on a specific planet, not impacting other worlds in the slightest. They are powerful to be sure, but relative to their environment.
 

The same can be said for Azfeiran planetary species, who are probably amongst the most normal creatures when looking at species like the Jav’Sai or Nefsi. They were species crafted on the planet through evolution, and power scale against each other and their environment.

Is lore knowledge required? 
As long as you have the basic overview of what’s happening, there are loads of ways we can start you off where you can learn on the go.  This usually utilizes things like hibernation-induced temporary amnesia for new Draconians, allowing lore-relevant explanations for why they may not know certain information, or in the case of Pravda, dawning straight from Solas. This gives them every reason to know absolutely nothing, and discover the universe in real time with the help of other Pravda.  No matter what, there are ways to enter if you know the absolute basics!
 

 

How active must I be? 
We have players of every activity level, from daily contributors of short form and encyclopedic posts, to chronic wheel-spin-lovers and those who simply wish to collect art for their characters.  Regardless of activity, there is a place for you here!

How does the group handle player absence?

This is very dependent on the situation. Sometimes, events can pause, other times they can't. We try to work around this as possible, and often times retroactive RP is possible. Unfortunately, in major events that require a cluster of people, if not expected/planned for, other characters will simply be forced to react to what's in front of them. This usually just results in confusion as to the absence of a character, potentially assumptions that have to be corrected later, occasionally IC conflict. At the end of the day, we can make all of these things part of the story in one way or another, so that tends to be the way it's handled.
